She's in Recovery
I am sitting here in the waiting room and just spoke to the doctor who did Tamara's surgery. Good news. The surgery went well. They were able to take the old stainless steel plates and screws out and found that the fusion at L-5, S-1 was solid and did not need to be rebuilt. Her fusion at L-5, L-4 is also solid, although we never were worried about that one. With respect to L-3, L4, they were able to fuse that joint successfully by adding some spacers (or cages) between the two vertebrae and grafting some bone between the two and securing them with some smaller titanium plates and screws. Dr. Reichman feels very good about the procedure, and I will be able to see her in just a few minutes when they take her to her room - room 477 (the corner room thanks to President Pehrson).
