"During her mortal life here on Earth she was a friend and companion that would radiate love in and through all things.
She was a sister that loved her two siblings, no matter how much they didn't deserve it sometimes.
She was a warrior who fought with the heart of a lion. Through the darkest of nights, she still saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
In her heavenly life, she is a guardian angel, sent from above to comfort those in heartache and pain.
She is a missionary, teaching those people who did not have the opportunity to know the truth.
She is a daughter of God.
Brittney McMurdie. She was and still is a lot of things, but to every person that knew her, their memories hold different stories. And what a different a day made. A day that will never be forgotten by anyone that was close to her.
That day brought a gamut of new and unknown things for me and my family. A day that brought fear, strength, knowledge, and sorrow.
Never had I known sorrow and ended up attaining that knowledge up very quickly. When I look back at the things I experienced after January 9th, 2002, a lot of them were very hard. I cannot even imagine what my parents were going through. But I felt alone. My parents were grieving, my brother grieved, and I grieved. Even though we were together, we were broken.
But Brittney promised she would always be there for me. She was and still is there to put her arm around my shoulders. If it wasn't for her influence, I don't know how long it would have taken me to know the gospel.
Seven years later, I still think of her every day. Some days I wish she could be here so I could talk to her about the not so important things that sisters often talk about.
Sometimes I feel her near me as I sit in church and turn to see if she's there beside me.
In some ways, it still feels like she is here. But I know all too well that it will be a while until I see her again.
For now, I will keep looking for her around the corner, maybe to one day see her smiling face, glowing in approval.
She is my sister that I will one day greet again in Heaven with tears of joy and elation. Someday, my family and I will be together forever, in the grace of our Heavenly Father."

Thank you for your putting this on our blog.
We love you, Bailey!
When we lived in England, Matthew and I would e-mail sometimes with Brittney and Ryan. One time Ryan said something like, I've got the coolest big sister in the whole world. It always stuck with me, how much he loved and looked up to her. And to read what Bailey wrote, just confirms that she was the best older sister that they could ever want or hope for!
