Neil's Dad Funeral World War II 1923-2007
Arlington Cemetray Washington D.C.
Every fall, Neil and I go to Washington D.C. for a Legal Conference. I always go to Arlington Cemetery. I've been there 15 times. I walk for hours looking and reading headstone after headstone, wondering how they lived, how they died, and then I think about their families.
These pictures are from last year. While I was there, they had 10 funerals going on. I heard ten, 21 guns salutes going off all around me. Ten bugles playing Taps. The sounds were deafening. At one point I had to sit down and just weep. I was overwhelmed with gratitude, sadness, grief and joy. How grateful I felt for my freedom as it played all around me.
The first picture are the grave makers of those who have lost their lives in Iraq/Afganastan. When I was there 8-10 funerals were being held everyday.
I AM TRULY HUMBLED AND GRATEFUL!
